We worked with Jen Briney, host of the Congressional Dish podcast, to plan and execute a reddit AMA. The AMA reached the front page of reddit and generated a mass of awareness for Jen and her podcast.
Connect with the reddit community by executing an engaging AMA to build awareness for Jen Briney and the Congressional Dish podcast.
We go through a detailed process with every client who wants to execute an AMA. Here are the steps we took with Jen to prepare and execute her reddit AMA.
1. Assess the client’s experience with reddit and formulate her goals for the AMA.
2. Consult with the client to learn about her expertise, experience, and purpose.
3. Develop the copy for the AMA title and body text.
4. Conduct a pre-AMA training session and reddit AMA walkthrough.
5. Submit the AMA using the easyAMA application and provide live support to the client during the AMA.
Since most redditors did not know who Jen was before the AMA, we focused on writing an attention grabbing title that would intrigue redditors. The title contained an impressive accomplishment and a controversial purpose for what Jen does.
Jen was fairly new to reddit so it was extremely important that she fully understood how reddit works before starting her AMA. We provided her with helpful documents (via MarketersGuideToReddit.com) and conducted a personal reddit training session. This session included an AMA walkthrough.
During her AMA, we submitted the AMA for Jen (using the easyAMA application) to ensure the AMA was submitted correctly with proper formatting. Jen took over the AMA from here and started answering questions. We provided live support to help Jen with any issues she encountered during the AMA.
Jen’s AMA was a huge success. Her submission reached the frontpage of reddit which is extremely rare for a non-celebrity AMA. We credit Jen’s unique expertise and her willingness to answer questions for an extended period of time. Of course, thoughtful planning and training equipped Jen to execute the successful AMA.
Here are some notable outcomes of the AMA:
I was unsure about reddit and was hesitant to use it. GroupSRC held my hand though the entire process and my AMA ended up #1 on the front page of reddit on my first try. These guys are miracle workers! Thank you!”
This AMA was an amazing success. Proper planning and execution were critical to that success, but nothing could replace the extraordinary effort that the client put forth to connect with the reddit community.
